Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. It will allow us to do the things we love in ways never before possible — all while staying connected to the people around us. The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for Applications Engineers to help us build the next generation of spatial applications for our platform. This team is working with some of Apple's most advanced technologies including spatial computing, augmented reality (AR), and machine learning (ML). As a member of our organization you will assist us in crafting future products that will delight, inspire and empower millions of people!

Apple's apps define our products; they are the core fulfillment of our user stories. You will have the opportunity to build software that directly impacts how customers use our products. We work closely with Apple's human interface design team and our internal framework teams to define and develop the next generation of apps. The ideal engineer for this role is comfortable working in a dynamic and creative team charged with exploring an uncharted and rapidly evolving domain. You will be researching and developing entirely new apps and experiences, a challenge that will demand rapid experimentation and prototyping without sacrificing code quality or attention to detail. You'll need a keen understanding of the state of the art in interactive 3D applications and an ambition to discover what the future holds in this space.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver highly performant user interfaces that elevates the web browsing experience on this platform to a whole new level.
• Work closely with the WebKit team to collaborate and bring spatial web technologies and features to reality.
• Work with low level system frameworks to take the web as we know today into the next dimension, pushing the frontier of the Spatial Web.
• Resolve technical and design challenges with innovation and resilience to come up with novel, ground-breaking solutions that will define new standards for Apple and the rest of the world.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS / MS / PhD in Computer Science OR equivalent degree OR equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3+ years shipping iOS/visionOS applications.
• Using Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C to build rich user experiences on iOS/visionOS
• Efficient debugging with good intuition, systematic approach and clever use of Apple developer tools
• Experience using iOS/visionOS frameworks like UIKit, SwiftUI, RealityKit, Core Data, AVKit, App Intents, Core Graphics, Core Animation, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in 3D/AR/VR experiences in general.
• Interest or proficiency in UI/UX design.
• Knowledge in optimizing code for power, performance and memory for Apple platforms
• Knowledge in modern application development technologies like Combine, Swift Concurrency, etc.
• Experience in Web Development with HTML, JavaScript and CSS
• Experience in cross-platform development (e.g. iOS/macOS/watchOS/tvOS)
• Experience in C and C++
• Experience with Unix development, daemons, cross-process communication, etc.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
