Responsibilities

• Setting standard practices and independently determining the impact on design approaches and parameters for final products.
• Applying extensive expertise in all facets of mechanical product design, providing direction, mentorship, and resources to other engineering groups, project leaders, and factory technicians.
• Acting as lead engineer on a variety of projects, participating in project planning of major sub-projects, and staying current on relevant technical trends and developments.
• Designing for manufacturability by providing early and ongoing involvement to ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable.
• Managing all phases of product engineering, from concept through repeat manufacturing to the end of life, including production support engineering with advanced testing methods, procedures, and failure analysis.
• Developing advanced process engineering solutions to improve quality and efficiency.
• Improving automation equipment by enhancing retry rates, reducing downtime, and managing OSS issues through innovative design and methodologies.
• Using data to influence Product Design teams to adopt automation-friendly product designs from a Mass Production perspective.
• Planning, developing, and implementing advanced testing and evaluation procedures for upcoming product releases, including the use of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis based on Six Sigma principles.

Minimum Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in an engineering (automation) role with experience directing a team of engineers for New Product Introduction (NPI).
• With experience in automatic assembly process development and machine design, such as PnP, glue dispensing, machine vision, and laser welding technologies.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of cost reduction, project management, and engineering design required.
• Required to understand and build tolerance stack-ups for assemblies and part level.
• A strong plus would be knowledge of optics principles related to CCD cameras, 2D and 1D lasers, and their use for positioning and critical alignment fixtures.
• Self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Familiar with process data analysis (JMP, Tableau, Python), and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proactive with a strong ability to communicate and collaborate with multi-functional teams effectively.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin is preferred.
