Pay: $55 - $70 an hr

Onsite: Orlando, FL

The structural mechanical/professional engineer role utilizes expertise in mechanical engineering principles, Revit/BIM model-based engineering practices, and industrial engineering methods to define, design, analyze, and integrate complex mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project objectives.

Conducts requirements analysis to elicit, document, and manage the functional, performance, and non-functional requirements of mechanical systems and their integration within the overall project, ensuring compatibility with BIM standards (ISO 19650, ISO16739-1, ISO 12006-2, ISO 23386, ISO 23387).

Develops and maintains detailed mechanical system designs and comprehensive BIM models.

Applies mechanical system modeling to visualize, analyze, simulate (e.g., performance, clash detection), and optimize integration of mechanical designs, frames, and support structures.

Identifies and assesses potential risks associated with the system design, fabrication, installation, integration, and performance, and proposes mitigation strategies.

Contributes to the integration aspects of mechanical systems, including defining and managing interfaces with structural, electrical, plumbing, process, and control systems, utilizing BIM models for coordination and data exchange.

Participates in verification and validation planning, defining the strategy and scope to ensure the integration of mechanical systems and structures meet all specified requirements, potentially using model-based checks and supporting physical test planning.

Acts as a key liaison across disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical), BIM managers, customers, vendors, and construction teams to resolve questions and ensure accurate interpretation and execution of the structure and BIM models.

Experience and skills:

5-7 years experience minimum relevant experience

BS degree in powerplant, civil, industrial, or mechanical engineering or related field

Licensed professional engineer

Experienced in development of processes, procedures, and designs adhering to relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 19650, relevant national BIM standards, ASME codes) and best practices within mechanical system design

Ability to interpret and work with mechanical system designs, BIM execution plans, 3D BIM models (e.g., AutoDesk Revit), fabrication drawings, interface control documents, performance requirements specifications, and technical calculations.

Experienced in mechanical system and BIM model creation and management (preferably with Revit)

Experienced with performing and reporting structural analysis using FEA software and hand calculations.

Awareness of risk management processes related to mechanical design, system integration, constructability, and operational efficiency

Preferred skills and experience:

Experience with naval or industrial power plants

Experience with ship structures

Experience with any combination of: building information models (BIM), Deltek CostPoint, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, Jama requirements management, TipQA

Proficiency in any combination of: HVAC, fire alarm and suppression systems (FASS), piping and valves, structural decking, industrial simulation

Advanced AutoDesk Revit capabilities (e.g., complex family creation, parameter management, sophisticated worksharing and collaboration)

Knowledge and/or experience with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)

Proficiency with Navisworks for advanced clash detection, 4D/5D simulation, and model aggregation.

Experience with mechanical analysis and simulation software that integrates with BIM models (e.g., FEA, CFD, energy modeling software).
