Field Engineer
The Field Engineer supports a program for Ericsson sites, performing installation, integration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network equipment across macro, small cell, IDAS, ODAS, and 5G deployments. This role includes executing milestone integration tasks, backhaul upgrades, SiteBoss installations, and ensuring compliance with program standards for quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Installation & Commissioning - Install Ericsson RAN equipment (Baseband, RRUs, AIR units) and SiteBoss controllers.
- Perform backhaul upgrades (fiber, microwave, Ethernet) to support LTE and 5G traffic.
- Ensure proper cabling, grounding, and environmental compliance.
 
- Integration & Configuration - Execute integration tasks for Small Cell, IDAS, ODAS, Macro 4G/5G, and C-Band sites:
- Generate and install SiteInstall files on radios/basebands.
- Perform ENM connectivity checks, synchronization, and software upgrades.
- Run post-integration and post-upgrade scripts via ENM Scripting Server.
- Verify PTP timing, RSSI, fiber light levels, and RET configurations.
- Complete Quality Checklist and activate call signs.
 
- Testing & Handover
- Alarm Management & Troubleshooting
- Compliance & Reporting - Apply site signage and environmental alarm punch-down.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all tasks and milestones.
 
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work across multiple technologies: LTE, 5G NR, C-Band, and carrier aggregation.
- Proficiency with Verizon tools: IOP, ENM, SAT Tool, Feature Activation Tool.
- Skilled in fiber handling, RF troubleshooting, and PTP timing verification.
- Capable of performing SiteBoss installs, environmental monitoring setup, and fuel monitor wiring.
- Knowledge of E911 testing procedures, RET configuration, and drive testing.
- Strong understanding of FUZE compliance and hazard material documentation.
- Comfortable working with tower crews for radio swaps and troubleshooting RET visibility.
- Ability to manage multiple integration milestones and meet strict deadlines.
Qualifications
- Technical Skills - Expertise in Ericsson RAN equipment and ENM integration processes.
- Familiarity with LTE, 5G NR, IP networking, and backhaul technologies.
- Proficiency with IOP, ENM Scripting Server, SAT Tool, FUZE, and feature activation tools.
 
- Experience - 3+ years in telecom field engineering or managed services.
- Hands-on experience with macro and small cell deployments, including C-Band.
 
- Certifications (Preferred) - Ericsson Certified Professional.
- OSHA safety certifications.
- Fiber and RF handling certifications.
 
- Other Requirements - Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
- Reliable transportation.
