Network Engineer (Vendor Network Deployment And Network Operations Support)

Project Overview

The purpose of this project is to deploy additional vendor networks using existing Meraki hardware, manage the vendor network, evaluate the existing Cisco Nexus core switch at the Rancho Cordova Data Center (RDC), and assist with production side network operations.

Responsibilities

Assess and Deploy Additional Vendor Networks

Deploy additional vendor networks using existing Meraki hardware where applicable.

Assess current network infrastructure and identify opportunities to utilize existing Meraki hardware.

Plan and execute the deployment of additional vendor networks, ensuring no impact on CCC's production network systems.

Perform necessary cabling and configurations.

Document all equipment, architectural designs, configurations and modifications made during the deployment process.

Advise CCC when licensing is expiring and/or additional licenses are needed.

Manage Vendor Network

• Single point of contact (SPOC) for vendors onboarding and requesting modifications to their systems on the network.
• Provide support to vendors during the onboarding process.
• Documents vendor requirements and ongoing maintenance needed for systems.
• Ensure vendor systems are integrated seamlessly into the network.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise on vendor network. Escalate issues and decisions as needed to CCC Infrastructure Manager.

Evaluate Cisco Nexus Core Switch

• Evaluate the existing Cisco Nexus core switch at the Rancho Cordova Data Center (RDC) and make recommendations for decommissioning.
• Conduct a thorough evaluation of the Cisco Nexus core switch.
• Identify any dependencies or potential impacts of decommissioning the switch.
• Provide a detailed report with recommendations and options for decommissioning the switch.
• Assist with decommissioning of the switch and/or any configuration changes as necessary.

Assist CCC Production Network Operations

• Provide expert-level support for CCC production network operations, as needed.
• Evaluate existing network architecture and configurations.
• Provide options and recommendations for best practices to optimize network performance.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving tier 3 network issues.

Deliverables

• Detailed Assessment Report of existing CCC network including vendor network.
• Detailed proposals for recommended changes.
• Detailed deployment plan and schedule for additional vendor networks.
• Technical documentation of all cabling, configurations, and changes made.
• Documented requirements, risks, issues and resolutions for troubleshooting in support of vendor systems, including but not limited to onboarding.
• Detailed evaluation report and recommendations for decommissioning the Cisco Nexus core switch.
• Best practices recommendations for production network operations.
