Manufacturing Engineer

Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Manufacturing Engineer for our client based out of Dublin, VA.

This assignment is anticipated to be a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.

This will also have a first-shift Monday–Friday schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine, and implement production processes to support efficient and cost-effective manufacturing operations.
  • Design and optimize equipment layouts, ensuring workflows support productivity, safety, and smooth material movement.
  • Define the sequence of production operations and develop procedures for fabricating tools, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Adapt or modify machinery and processes based on operational needs and changing factory conditions.
  • Conduct tests during various stages of manufacturing to evaluate process stability, control variables, and identify root causes of production issues.
  • Collaborate with product design teams to provide input on technical specifications that align with manufacturing capabilities and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, quality standards, and internal process requirements.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges, propose solutions, and implement improvements with moderate supervision.
  • Influence process decisions by explaining relevant technical considerations, policies, or procedures to cross-functional partners.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related production engineering role.
  • Practical knowledge of production processes, process optimization, equipment layout, tooling design, and manufacturing workflows.
  • Ability to work independently while following established guidelines and escalating complex issues when needed.
  • Experience solving moderately difficult production problems and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and quality teams.
  • Familiarity with test methods, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement practices.
