The Anduril Imaging team develops state-of-the-art imaging systems across both hardware and software, deployed to tackle the most significant security challenges of America and its allies. The team is heavily involved in utilizing computer vision, perception, electro-optical, infrared, and sensor data to give our war fighters and allies an advantage.
About The Job
We are seeking a skilled Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the design and development of advanced detection systems utilizing LIDAR technology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in opto-mechanical design, with a focus on enhancing detection capabilities for various applications.
What You'll Do
- Own hardware from concept generation to real-world use.
- Develop cutting-edge infrared sensors specifically for detection applications.
- Utilize first principles physics as a basis for all decisions.
- Lead system integration activities into LIDAR and detection platforms including various vehicles.
- Build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production.
- Support critical hardware demonstrations with customers as needed.
- Contribute to the development of new optical systems by assisting in design and implementation efforts.
- Define top-level system architecture trades to develop optimal system designs.
- Execute in-depth and rigorous opto-mechanical designs.
- Travel to test sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in an immersive interdisciplinary technical project.
- Experience in design, hardware, or integrated product development and testing.
- Proficiency in CAD (any platform) with the ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet industry standards.
- Understanding of thermal and structural analysis.
- Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills.
- Ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs (motors, controllers, sensors, etc.).
- Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex optical system design, analysis, testing, and implementation.
- Experience performing detailed analysis, including thermal-elastic, line-of-sight, jitter, modal, and thermal.
