Network Infrastructure Specialist

Coordinates and maintains all network hardware, software, and peripherals. Provides technical support for hospital servers and associated hardware. Actively monitors the network and server infrastructure to proactively address potential problems before they become an issue. Ensures the reliability and integrity of the hospital's backup and disaster recovery processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Network Infrastructure Management – Configure, monitor, and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
  2. System and Server Upgrades – Plan, schedule, and perform upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance on physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure.
  3. Virtual Environment Management – Support, maintain, and optimize virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar) including resource allocation, performance tuning, and upgrades.
  4. Technical Support – Provide Tier 1, 2, and 3 support for network and system issues. Work directly with end users to troubleshoot and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner.
  5. Security and Compliance – Implement and monitor network security measures, including access controls, VPNs, and firewalls. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  6. Monitoring and Optimization – Utilize monitoring tools to track performance, availability, and capacity. Recommend and implement improvements for efficiency and reliability.
  7. Documentation and Procedures – Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, server configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  8. Collaboration and Training – Work closely with IT teams to support infrastructure projects and provide knowledge sharing as needed.
  9. Other Duties as Assigned – Perform additional tasks and responsibilities to support the IT department and organizational goals, including maintaining a working understanding of Anderson's core IT competencies.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in an Information Technology related field with 2 years of experience or Associates Degree in an Information Technology related field with a CCNA certification and 2 years of experience or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification or N+ certification with 4 years of work experience.

Experience Requirement:

  1. Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or similar role.
  2. Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs).
  3. Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless technologies.
  4. Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux servers, upgrades, and maintenance.
  5. Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
  6. Knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  7. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
