Chief Medical Officer
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position provides oversight and assists with improvement of clinical services, ensuring quality patient care, compliance with regulations, and collaboration between medical and administrative staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to support high quality patient care across hospital departments.
- Serves as a liaison between leadership and medical staff.
- Develops and implements strategies to improve patient safety, outcomes, and overall patient experience.
- Collaborates with the Performance Improvement Department in investigations and responses to concerns about physician complaints and quality issues expressed within the facility, from staff or external entities.
- Assists in compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best clinical practices.
- Acts as a physician advisor to the Home Health and Care Coordination departments.
- Participates in medical staff credentialing, peer review, and performance evaluations (OPP/FPPE, contract service metrics, etc.).
- Attends various Medical Staff meetings and reports, as appropriate, to the Medical Executive Committee, Quality Council, and Board of Trustees.
- Maintains good standing on Anderson Hospital's Medical Staff.
- Participates in strategic planning, policy development, and the budgeting process.
- Participates and supports hospital sponsored functions.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
Board-certified physician, with current Illinois license
Experience in Medical Staff Leadership, required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving and teambuilding
Ability to relate well to a variety of individuals
Strong analytic and data management skills
Able to gain medical staff support when developing, implementing and promoting improvement activities
