ADI is seeking a senior electrical engineer experienced with automotive connectivity and automotive cabin electronics to support our Tier 1 and OEM automotive customers developing solutions with ADI's automotive infotainment technologies, including audio transceiver (A2B), automotive ethernet (10Base-T1S), and Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL).

As a Staff Engineer, Field Applications, reporting into ADI's global automotive sales organization, you will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted technical advisor to our Automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers for ADI's innovative automotive data transport technologies – Automotive Audio Bus (A2B), Automotive Ethernet 10Base-T1S (E2B/MAC-PHY), and Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL). This includes identifying and understanding customer needs and opportunities; proposing system solutions; and supporting design-in activities. The position requires an ability to function autonomously as a technology expert while working in a dynamic environment with the other members of the local sales and applications engineering teams.

This role requires senior-level automotive electronics experience; understanding of electronic hardware design best practices; capability to debug embedded systems; and knowledge of digital audio and/or video data transport and network stack concepts. Previous knowledge of automotive infotainment systems specifically is desired but not required. The ideal candidate has solid communications skills with the ability to understand and manage customer expectations. Familiarity with automotive product development principles and processes; EMC/EMI validation; or functional safety concepts are all desirable attributes.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Understanding customer system- and circuit-level designs to propose technical solutions
  • Troubleshooting customer hardware and software/firmware performance issues
  • Understanding and disseminating market trends and customer end applications requirements
  • Training customers on ADI's technologies and design best practices
  • Training ADI's global sales and support team on its A2B, 10BASE-T1S, and/or GMSL products
  • Contributing to ADI's automotive technology development strategies and product definitions
  • Developing and maintaining technical and leadership with both internal and external customers

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or equivalent required with 5+ years of work experience in related fields
  • Senior-level understanding of electronic design fundamentals and best practices required
  • Experience debugging embedded hardware/software using common lab equipment required
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Foundation of embedded systems and software design fundamentals and skills is a plus
  • Knowledge of automotive infotainment systems; digital audio signal processing and audio/video data transport are a plus
  • Knowledge of automotive Ethernet (specifically 10Base-T1S) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing a plus

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and debugging skills
  • Solid communication skills and comfortable presenting technical topics
  • Willingness and capability to travel both domestically (within NA) and internationally
  • Self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a team environment
  • Agility and drive to learn new things quickly and continuously
