Platform Engineer II

As a Platform Engineer II you'll own small- to medium-sized platform features from design through operation. You'll collaborate with Staff and Senior engineers to simplify Kubernetes for over 100 developers by creating self-service automation and scalable infrastructure on AWS. This role is perfect for engineers who have a few successful, production-level projects under their belt and are ready to deepen their expertise in cloud-native ecosystems while mentoring more junior teammates.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement platform capabilities that improve developer experience, reliability, or security.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code for Kubernetes and AWS using Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and other emerging tools.
  • Contribute to and improve our CI/CD pipelines (Argo CD / Workflows / Rollouts, GitHub Actions).
  • Instrument services with observability tooling (Datadog, Amplitude) and own monitoring dashboards.
  • Participate fully in the on-call rotation, driving incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
  • Proactively identify technical debt and propose pragmatic remediation plans.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to understand their needs and translate them into platform features.
  • Provide informal mentorship to Platform Engineer I team members and interns.

What we're looking for includes:

  • 3-5 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering, including hands-on work with cloud infrastructure.
  • Production experience operating Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE, AKS, or on-prem) and containerized applications.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python preferred) and IaC tooling (Terraform).
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, ALB, S3) and networking/security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CNCF ecosystem tools (Argo, Helm, Backstage, Envoy, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success improving system reliability, performance, or developer productivity.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to break down complex topics for diverse audiences, and a bias for collaborative problem solving.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and a pragmatic, business-aligned engineering mindset.
