The Position
An Interim Director of Emergency Services is needed to provide operational leadership and support in the main ED of a busy, Level I trauma and academic medical center. Reporting to the Interim Administrator of Emergency Services, this leader will oversee two direct reports and approximately 180 FTEs. Key responsibilities include providing dedicated operational leadership, conducting a SWOT analysis and developing an action plan, improving patient flow and visit duration, and creating a strategic plan for the department's next one to five years. The ideal candidate will have experience leading large, academic emergency departments; be visible, collaborative, strategic, and operationally focused; a capable mentor and problem solver; decisive and adaptable; and not a first-time interim leader. Must be highly organized, patient-focused, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills will be critical. Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required. An active RN license in Virginia or a Compact state is required. Significant experience leading large, academic emergency departments with proven strategic and operational leadership is required.

Compensation Details
Compensation Range: $170,000 to $180,000 annually. The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation. Additionally, some candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, depending on the specific role, including but not limited to health insurance coverage and retirement benefits. The listed base compensation range represents a good faith estimate of potential earnings at the time of this job posting and may be subject to future adjustments.
