Report to: Associate Director, New Product Planning
Main purpose of job:
Drive commercial assessment of the early asset pipelines especially from market access perspectives until the Brand Team (BT) is established and ensure a smooth transition of information and assessment outcomes from NPP to the BT
Aims to maximize the potential of new assets by assessing the candidate assets, aligning with corporate strategy, and addressing unmet medical needs in Japan from the early development phase
Realize maximization of pipeline products' values in Japan based on current and future market access conditions and trends
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize intrinsic products' values at the market introduction as new or market expansion opportunities
Responsibilities:
Gain and maximize access opportunities for early development assets and contribute to life cycle management success
Conduct analyses of access-related challenges and opportunities for each asset from early development stages
Review reimbursement frameworks, pricing systems, and potential market barriers by performing desk-based research (literature review, secondary data analysis)
Develop "risk–opportunity matrices" from the access perspective for each asset and provide them as internal reference materials
Regularly exchange information with Value and Access department representatives to align on optimal access scenarios for each asset
Generate value through close collaboration with the Value & Access department
Incorporate insights and recommendations from V&A representatives into planning and strategy discussions within the new product planning function
Consolidate value propositions for each asset and identify required data and evidence from the market access perspective
Clarify differentiating factors from the access standpoint and prepare bridging materials for internal use by collaborating with the colleagues in V&A department (e.g., for Medical Affairs, R&D)
Act as a conduit by integrating external market insights obtained by the V&A department into internal strategic discussions.

Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in market access, health economics, or policy-related work
Knowledge of clinical sciences, clinical trials and/or regulatory areas in drugs development and life cycle management
Knowledge and understanding of HTA (Health Technology Assessment), reimbursement systems, and pricing strategies in Japan
Cross-functional project management skills
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in local (Japan)
Experience collaborating with global teams/colleagues
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in health economics, public health, or related field
Experience in developing successful access strategies and value propositions
Both Japanese and English (business level); fluency in speaking, writing and reading
Work Style:
Remote work is supported. However, applicants must be able to commute to the office flexibly when needed. Office attendance is expected on an occasional basis, typically around twice per month.
