The Associate IS Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) - Enterprise Automation organization. You'll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen's Applied AI & Automation Footprint.

As Associate IS Engineer, you will become an integral part of the Self-Service Automation (SSA) and Custom GPT Practice team that helps Amgen staff members to digitally upskill in the field of Automation, Low-Code/No-Code and GenAI tools so that they can build solutions that optimize their tasks or processes thereby resulting in improved personal or teams' productivity.

As part of the CoE team, you will drive the adoption of this program across various organizations of Amgen through collaboration with cross-functional team members and leaders. This role requires you to constantly adapt to change and be nimble.

  • Act as a technical expert to guide staff members and functional teams on their automation and GenAI use cases' development and deployment.
  • Provide technical coaching support for Power Automate, Custom GPTs, Uipath and PowerApps use cases.
  • Host office hours and other enablement sessions.
  • Build varying complexity Cloud and desktop flows in Power Automate.
  • Build varying complexity Custom GPTs with Actions, RAG or MCP integrations.
  • Build and configure PowerApps (canvas and model-driven).
  • Build dashboards in Power BI as per requirements.
  • Ensure Agile methodologies are strictly adhered to, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery of value.
  • Stay current with the latest AI/ML and GenAI tooling and actively contribute to internal knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Effective product demonstrations for internal and external collaborators.

What we expect of you:

  • 2+ years of experience of building GenAI solutions using End-2-End solutions leveraging Custom GPT or CoPilot Studio
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Power Platform product offerings (Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI) and UiPath
  • 2+ years of experience using Agile Methodologies to implement solutions
  • Experience working and coordinating with multiple stakeholders while delivering in a team setting.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, and event-driven architectures to connect RPA and AI workflows with backend systems.
  • Experience with OpenAI APIs
  • Strong SQL and database knowledge
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of Agentic AI or agent-based automation
  • Model Context Protocols (MCPs) for Custom GPTs.
  • RAG implementation to extend/ground LLMs.
  • Experience working with Jira, Confluence for agile delivery.
  • Experience with SharePoint site development.
  • Familiarity with GxP and systems validation
  • Experience in regulated industries such as biotech or healthcare

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.

This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
