Foreman
The Foreman is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities associated with course grounds areas including weeding, pest control, and care of all interior and exterior plant life. The Foreman works closely with the Superintendent and General Manager to assist with other responsibilities including training and supervision of staff, assisting in all aspects of cultural practices including proper operation of the irrigation system, and operation of equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain course accessibility and appearance using power and hand tools to perform activities such as mowing, weeding, edging, setup, raking sand traps, laying sod, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers
- Use tools and chemicals to perform activities such as weed abatement, pest control, irrigation, cultivating, and proper drainage
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of each hole by changing cups, tee markers and towels and emptying trash and maintaining ball washers
- Operate and maintain utility vehicles and equipment, following company safety standards and manufacturer's recommendations
- Communicate potential problems informing management of any agronomic or maintenance equipment issues
- Ensure consistency in course conditions by assisting Superintendent with maintenance staff training, scheduling, and evaluation activities May perform manual labor as needed
- May supervise and/or direct maintenance-related job functions
- May act as weekend supervisor
- Repair equipment, sprays, and fertilizes as directed
- Maintain a safe and orderly maintenance facility
- Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management
- Other duties may be assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Ability to operate mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and sprayers
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and management
- Ability to communicate effectively with Spanish speaking co-workers preferred
- Good time management, organization and prioritization skills
- State pesticide license preferred
- Valid driver's license
Education:
- High School diploma required (Specialty/Technical Training preferred) and 2 years of related equivalent combination of educations and experience

Working Conditions:
- Days and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
