Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a full-time Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary Deaf Education classroom in Killeen, TX for the 2025–2026 school year. This in-person role begins November 10, 2025 and runs through May 28, 2026.

Position Details

• Location: Killeen, TX
• Start Date: November 10, 2025
• End Date: May 28, 2026
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Hours: 37.5/week (7:30am–3:15pm)
• Modality: In-person only
• Setting: Elementary Deaf Ed classroom
• Support: Classroom teacher and possible paraprofessional
• Pay Rate: $40/hr
• Campus: TBD

Responsibilities

• Provide expressive and voice interpreting services using ASL
• Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
• Support student understanding of assignments and promote independence
• Teach sign language classes and offer individual instruction as directed
• Collaborate with staff and serve as a resource for substitute teachers
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain compliance with Section 504 and ADA
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district and Amergis policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Level One BEI or National Interpreter Certification
• EIPA or RID certification (as required by state/client)
• ASL fluency and understanding of Deaf culture
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• CPR, TB screening, and health certificate (if applicable)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Minimum age: 18
