Special Education Paraprofessional

Amergis Educational Staffing is currently partnering with schools in Suffolk County, Massachusetts to hire Special Education Paraprofessionals for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is a full-time, contract-based opportunity ideal for individuals passionate about supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Position Details

• Location: Suffolk County, MA
• Start Date: Immediate
• Duration: 2025–2026 School Year
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 32.5 hours/week
• Pay Rate: Up to $26/hour (based on experience)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience working in a school or similar educational setting
• ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) experience preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive education
• Ability to follow teacher direction and work collaboratively with school staff

Role Overview

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in both academic and non-academic settings. Under the guidance of certified teachers and school staff, you will assist students individually and in small groups to promote their educational, behavioral, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students in self-contained, resource room, or general education classrooms
• Assist with instructional activities, behavior management, and social-emotional learning
• Provide hands-on support for students with physical and medical needs, including:
  • Assisting with toileting and hygiene routines
  • Supporting school nurses with diaper changing and related care
  • Transporting non-ambulatory students in wheelchairs within and outside the school building
  • Supervising students during recess, field trips, and transitions to/from transportation
• Help implement behavior intervention plans and collect data as needed
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment

The School Aide is an individual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department, teacher, and/or supervising designee. The School Aide may also provide support services to assist students with personal, physical mobility, and therapeutic care needs, as established by a rehabilitation health practitioner, social worker, or other health care professional.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
