Role Title: Engineering Manager

Role Description: An opportunity exists for an experienced Defence maritime engineering professional to join a newly formed Project Management Office (PMO), tasked with delivering a fully integrated and sustainable support system for one of Navy's critical platforms. Following the extension of the platform's life-of-type, the PMO will lead the remediation, standardisation and long-term sustainment planning required to ensure capability availability and fleet wide engineering assurance.

As the Engineering Manager, you will exercise delegated engineering authority and provide leadership across engineering governance, requirements setting, maintenance analysis and design baseline definition. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the support system is coherent, auditable and aligned with Defence engineering and configuration expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting and overseeing engineering requirements across all remediation activities.
  • Exercising Engineering Authority in support of program decision-making.
  • Leading engineering governance, configuration compliance, and technical assurance.
  • Planning and managing the fleet wide Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) program.
  • Defining and establishing the Design Baseline for the platform.
  • Working closely with PMO leadership and Defence stakeholders to achieve key milestones.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor-level engineering qualification in a relevant discipline (Mechanical, Marine, Systems, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience performing as a delegated engineering authority within Defence maritime programs.
  • Strong understanding of Defence engineering governance, configuration management frameworks and certification practices.
  • Experience establishing or managing Design Baselines, technical assurance frameworks and engineering compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing Maintenance Task Analysis activities, Standard Activities, maintenance schedule updates or fleet wide sustainment reviews.
  • Strong understanding of naval platform systems, vessel maintenance practices and maritime regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience guiding multidisciplinary engineering or technical teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief senior stakeholders and develop clear, defensible engineering artefacts.

Required Security Clearance Level: Negative Vetting One (NV1)

Location: Cairns, QLD / Darwin, NT / Henderson WA.

Weekly Hours: 40
