About the opportunity:

Energy Programmes is one of our newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Energy Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Amentum are currently recruiting for a Design Manager/Steelwork Engineer who will act in a self-delivery capacity to produce and/or manage the various project deliverables related to their scope. Key responsibilities will be:

• The scope will be delivery of all required information related to the design of the SZC SSW and will be grouped by individual building. This may include having responsibility for more than one building.
• The deliverables of this scope include but are not limited to lists of design input data, meeting and presentation content including meeting records, surveillance and reporting associated with design changes, reports, open points, Field Change Requests, Requests for Information, and Non-Conformance reports, design drawings and design calculations.
• The Design Manager will have ownership of, and responsibility for making day to day operational decisions associated with the production of these deliverables. This will include the identification of internal and external risks to the successful delivery criteria (quality, cost and programme) of these deliverables.
• The Design Manager will be reporting to the SZC SSW Deputy Delivery Lead but will also be expected to liaise directly with internal and external stakeholders as and when required. This will involve the preparation and recording of various presentations and meeting notes.

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree in Civil/Structural (Mechanical considered with relevant experience).
• Structural steelwork design experience to national standards (ideally Eurocodes).
• Proven experience in complex self-delivery environments.
• Independent decision-making with sound analysis.
• Operational planning and delivery success.
• Confident stakeholder communication and presentation.
• Working knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
• Software Skills: Microsoft Word/Excel, Navisworks, Structural analysis tools - CEMAR
