The start date is May 2026, and the length of the term is 4 months.

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Engineering, the successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team responsible for supporting issues on AltaLink's transmission facilities in Alberta, which range in voltage class from 69kV to 500kV. The successful candidate will be providing support in one or more of the technical sub-groups such as transmission lines, civil, substations, operational technology, SCADA, protection and control (P&C), and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external customers to address issues and concerns.
  • Understand and communicate AltaLink's requirements and standards with Third parties, especially those who are contemplating development, work, etc. which encroaches on AltaLink's facilities.
  • Support root cause failure analysis (RCFA) investigation, analysis, trending, and reporting on equipment failures and saves.
  • Provide engineering support on requests related to AltaLink's power system assets across the transmission line, substation, protection & control, SCADA, or telecom disciplines. Requests come from internal engineering teams and field staff.
  • Review equipment manuals to develop optimized maintenance plans for substation assets.
  • Provide analysis of existing assists for system performance enhancements and recommended standards changes and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering design or study support on the emergency response to asset failures.
  • Support the gathering of evidence required to demonstrate compliance to internal and external compliance frameworks such as Alberta Reliability Standards and ISO 27001/19.
