Transforming the Future with Convergence of Simulation and Data
OTA Automation Development Engineer
Our client in Allen Park, MI is looking for a OTA Automation Development Engineer. This is a part time contract position.
What You Will Do:
- Onboarding: Laptop, badge, credentials, basic training to support system access started
- Serve as a bridge between IT/cloud teams and in-plant operations for OTA software delivery.
- Architect and deploy cloud-based OTA pipelines that support concurrent updates across multiple vehicle modules (e.g., ADAS, BCM, PCM, telematics, etc.)
- Develop, test, and maintain robust update applications and scripts—packaged as standalone executables or containerized services—that automate version control and validation
- Integrate on-premises manufacturing network infrastructure with AWS/Azure/GCP services to enable seamless communication between assembly-line ECUs and cloud update servers
- Coordinate with electrical test engineers to schedule in-vehicle or bench-top flashing sessions that align with production milestones and minimize plant downtime
- Collaborate with diagnostics and validation teams to define firmware validation criteria and verify update integrity
- Monitor real-time telemetry and performance metrics during OTA rollouts, analyze diagnostic logs for error codes (DTCs), and drive continuous improvement of update success rates
- Provide in-plant support for troubleshooting update failures, performing partial recoveries, and executing manual recovery procedures when automated processes encounter exceptions
- Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures for OTA processes, including secure boot, encrypted firmware delivery, and code signing to comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 21434, SAE J3061)
- Support all FP Meetings and provide status updates
What You Will Need:
- BS Mechanical Engineering or BS Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) or BBA or Associate Degree
- 3+ years experience on Ford Motor Company programs
- Understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools (JIRA / FEDE BOM / WERS / Bill of Material / AIMS / 8Ds / Part Sign-Off / GPIRs / FEDE DVP / Engineering Sign Off / DFMEA / FMA / Six Sigma)
- OTA, Cloud Infrastructure, and Programming / Scripting Experience
- Experience launching new vehicles on an electrical integration team and working with a Cross-functional team, including in-plant End Of Line (EOL) activity, assembly-line throughput, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with diagnostics tools, cybersecurity best practices and production-floor constraints is essential to guarantee that OTA processes do not disrupt assembly-line throughput or safety standards
- Ability to handle complex and multiple tasks and complicated situations under compressed timing
