Principal/Team Lead Machine Learning Engineer

We are seeking a Principal/Team Lead Machine Learning Engineer to guide our ML team. In this role, you'll combine technical depth with leadership to shape strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure ML delivers maximum business impact.

Types of problems you'll be solving:

• Driving the development of a best-in-class recommendation system
• Steering solutions for pLTV challenges using causal ML and sequence modelling
• Leading the design of adaptive reward schemes with Bayesian modelling to respond to player behaviours and market trends

Your role:

• Define and own the ML strategy to accelerate Almedia's growth
• Lead and grow a high-performing ML team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence
• Partner with product, engineering, and growth leaders to align ML priorities with company objectives
• Ensure ML models are scalable, measurable, and directly tied to business outcomes
• Cultivate a culture of experimentation, knowledge-sharing, and innovation within the team

You have:

• Extensive experience leading ML initiatives end-to-end, with proven business impact in adtech or similar industries
• Strong background in statistics, experimental design, and applied ML techniques
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud-based ML workflows
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills to influence at the leadership level

Bonus points for:

• Passion for gaming and a strong understanding of game mechanics and player engagement
• Background in adtech, monetisation, or gambling platforms
• Experience with key gaming metrics like pLTV, retention, and ROAS
