Program Support Officer

Under the administrative direction of the Chair of Police & Public Safety Institute department, the Program Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chair, Police & Public Safety Institute as well as support to the staff working within, and support to the students enrolled, in Police & Public Safety Institute programs.

Under the direction of the Chair, this position is responsible for coordinating and scheduling departmental meetings and other meetings both internal and external as well as planning and carrying out administrative activities including preparing correspondence, minutes, and reports frequently of a confidential, strategic and/or specialized nature. As well, they will coordinate the onboarding process for new faculty and staff, assist with part time contracts, and review part-time payroll.

Additionally, acting as liaison, the incumbent collaborates with the Chair, Coordinators, Curriculum Office and the V.P. Academic Office to establish changes required for the Annual Curriculum Review process for multiple programs within the department. The incumbent also completes all book orders for the department in coordination with faculty.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) year diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration Executive or equivalent education. Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience with the following:

  • Practical work experience in the office administration/clerical field.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office – proficiency in Excel - intermediate level

  • Experience in minute taking and business writing – including proofreading documents and excellent attention to detail

  • Experience in a student-centered environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Communication in a variety of capacities to a diverse clientele

  • Experience working with a student information system in a post-secondary education environment.

This position is eligible for hybrid work in conjunction with the College's Flexible Work Arrangement Policy.
