Internship Role At Alexion: AstraZeneca Rare Disease Site

We are looking for MBA students with life sciences and/or healthcare backgrounds for a 12-week internship role at our Alexion: AstraZeneca Rare Disease site in the Seaport neighborhood of Boston, MA site from May 18 2026 to August 7 2026.

Position description:

  • Research on innovative practices in product launch in the pharma/biotech industry, including but not limited to competitors/new entrants, other rare diseases, etc., to identify gaps and opportunities to clear recommendations that can inform 2027 brand plan strategies and tactics
  • Evaluate AI tools available at AZ and conduct informational interviews within the organization to identify opportunities to improve operational excellence, identify 2-3 specific high-impact use cases that Alexion US marketing can develop or improve
  • Shadow marketing team to gain experience with the development and approval of promotional materials
  • Development and contribution of leadership presentations and analysis

Position requirements:

  • MBA students with life sciences and/or healthcare backgrounds
  • Candidates must have an expected graduation date after August 2026.
  • US work authorization is required at time of application.
  • This role will not be granting CPT support.
  • Brand & strategy experience such as understanding of brand value proposition and general strategic planning process, sensitivity to business goals and competitive environment, ability to align tactical recommendations to brand strategic imperatives.
  • Insights & analytics experience such as ability to conduct desk research independently leveraging available platforms and AI tools, synthesizing findings and key takeaways that are most relevant to the brand.
  • Digital literacy skills such as ability to utilize basic AI tools following all compliance and regulatory guidance.
  • Experience in digital healthcare apps is a plus
  • Execution & communication skills such as project management, executive slide storytelling, clear verbal and written communication.
  • Excel, PowerPoint, data visualization such as PowerBI required
  • Literature/desk research skills required.
  • Life science, healthcare background, and/or prior experience in rare disease or specialty drugs preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.
  • Ability to report onsite to the Seaport neighborhood of Boston, MA 3-5 days per week. This role will not provide relocation assistance.
  • Compensation range: $50-$60 per hour
