This role is part of Alcon's Engineering function, a team focused on improving quality, processes, products, packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Principal I, Manufacturing Science & Technology Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for managing technical projects focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating new production materials, equipment, and technologies. You will be expected to apply project management skills, technical expertise, and problem-solving abilities to drive innovation.
Specifics Include:
- Manage technical projects applying specialized knowledge to drive innovation in sterilization processes.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate new production materials, equipment, and sterilization technologies.
- Conduct manufacturing research and development to solve problems related to production cost and quality.
- Lead sterilization process validation activities and coordinate timelines.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sterilization processes (EO and gamma sterilization for medical devices).
- Provide knowledge management and fundamental training/education in sterilization for Process Experts and Operators.
- Collaborate with R&D, commercial, quality, and global MS&T networks for technical knowledge transfer.
- Participate in defining and selecting sterilization equipment via User Requirements (URS) input.
- Serve as Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for sterilization process technology interfaces.
- Support production troubleshooting with specialist expertise.
- Ensure adherence to Good Practice (GxP) regulations, SOPs, quality control, and documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Support audit readiness and provide input/review for regulatory documentation.
- Champion Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices per documented procedures.
