Process Engineer

Alcoa Fjarðaál is seeking a skilled individual to take on the role of Process Engineer in the rodshop. This role involves providing technical support for daily production and contributing to improved productivity. The Process Engineer ensures the supply of key materials such as anodes, stems, and cathodes, and oversees the execution of work processes with a strong focus on production quality and continuous improvement.

1. General Overview of the Role

Purpose and Objective of the Role

Identify ways to optimize production and minimize waste in the manufacturing process.

Scope and Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of work processes and ensure production quality is prioritized in improvement efforts
  • Identify, support, and drive improvements on the production floor
  • Guide and motivate teams to achieve production goals
  • Adopt management methods and develop technical knowledge and skills
  • Work towards efficient and cost-effective operations
  • Acquire information and specialization within the production area
  • Encourage staff and provide feedback
  • Manage key performance indicators for the team
  • Oversee technical training for production employees
  • Supervise projects related to productivity and safety
  • Provide technical support for daily production and promote productivity
  • Ensure supply of anodes, stems, and cathodes

Responsibilities

  • Respect and uphold Alcoa's values and policies

  • Comply with quality and environmental standards
  • Adhere to laws, regulations, and standards
  • Apply technical information professionally
  • Communicate operational and equipment status to the team manager
  • Provide technical training to production staff
  • Follow the process budget

2. Basic Requirements

Education and/or Certifications Required

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a B.Sc. in Engineering Technology.

Experience Required

Experience in operations and monitoring of production processes is preferred.

Required Competencies

Planning, scheduling, initiative, decision-making ability, and interpersonal communication skills.

Communication Skills and Collaboration

The employee must maintain good communication with all company staff and collaborate with other teams as needed. Close and effective cooperation with the team's lead engineer and team leaders is expected, with follow-up on projects in consultation with them. External communication may include auditors, customers, and technical teams within Alcoa for technical consultation.
