Reports To: Director of Student Services

Salary: 187-Day Teacher Scale

Overview Of Position

The Prevention And Support Academic Teacher (PSAT) plays a critical role in supporting both the academic and behavioral success of students at the Resilience Scholars Academy. This position is responsible for implementing preventative strategies that reduce barriers to learning, fostering resilience, and guiding students toward positive educational outcomes. The Teacher integrates social-emotional learning (SEL) and academic interventions to ensure students remain engaged, on track, and supported. The PSAT collaborates with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to design and implement comprehensive prevention and support services within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement prevention strategies to address academic & behavioral challenges.
  • Provide small-group and individualized academic support sessions aligned with classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate SEL and resilience-building practices into daily instruction.
  • Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and behavior to identify early warning signs and intervene promptly.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of academic intervention plans linked to student learning goals.
  • Support schoolwide PBIS and MTSS frameworks for academic and behavioral growth.
  • Provide professional development to staff on embedding SEL and preventative supports in instruction.
  • Serve as a bridge between students, teachers, families, and community agencies.
  • Participate in Student Support Team meetings, IEP/504 planning, Behavior Intervention Plans, and parent conferences as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education with valid K-12 certification (Master's preferred).
  • Experience working with at-risk students or in an alternative education environment.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, RTI, and evidence-based academic/behavioral interventions.
  • Strong skills in academic facilitation, relationship-building, and preventative planning.
  • Ability to analyze academic and behavioral data to guide decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Certification/licensure in education, counseling, or related field (preferred).
