Internship Opportunity In Engineering And Integration

This position is for an internship within the Engineering and Integration Department as part of the Missiles & Aviation Solutions Division. Engineers in the Missiles & Aviation Solutions Division provide solutions to complex, technical problems involving modeling and simulation, aerodynamics design, guidance and control, software, integrated vehicle design and system integration. The engineering intern in this position will work closely with full-time engineers to complete a technical project involving systems engineering concepts for a flight vehicle being designed by Leidos - Dynetics.

Responsibilities may include the following: developing tailored Systems Engineering artifacts derived from customer needs for product development, interfacing with program management and design engineers to support systems engineering needs including modeling system behavior, defining system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, developing and executing test plans, and flight system design activities outside of Systems Engineering such as avionics software and hardware design.

Basic qualifications include familiarity with Systems Engineering-based processes, hands-on work in developing, documenting, and executing test processes and procedures, strong technical communication skills, an ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments, residency in North Alabama area or willingness to temporarily relocate to Huntsville, AL, a student pursuing a degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited school with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance with Leidos.

Preferred qualifications include Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, flight systems & understanding of flight principles, hardware-in-the-loop integration, testing, and test planning in a real-time environment, and familiarity with software development, integration, and test.
