Aerojet Rocketdyne, a segment of L3Harris, is a world-class developer and manufacturer of advanced propulsion and energetics systems for customers including the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, and other agencies and companies, both in the United States and abroad. Our markets include strategic missiles, missile defense, tactical systems and armaments, in addition to propulsion and power systems for launch vehicles, satellites, and other space vehicles. We have an immediate need for a highly skilled and motivated Sr Specialist, Logistics Engineer, to join our Missile Solutions Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) team in Huntsville, AL.
Working with the Systems Engineering team that is comprised of the following departments:
- Logistics- Transportation- ILS
- Reliability Engineering
- Requirements Engineering
- Systems Integration
- Systems Safety
- Affordability Engineering
This role will be focused on transportation and handling and ground support equipment of solid rocket motors.
Essential Functions
In this role, the Logistics Engineer will be expected to:
- Develop systems, subsystems, and component requirements for GSE, handling equipment and transportation systems that handle solid rocket propulsion systems.
- Perform functional analysis and coordinate system trade studies.
- Coordinate with Operational logistics for product scheduling and shipments.
- Provide coordination of ground support equipment (GSE) design and development across functional disciplines and suppliers for aerospace systems.
- Conduct analysis and testing to ensure GSE meets required specifications and safety standards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate GSE into aerospace operations.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of GSE to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for procurement and servicing of GSE.
- Plan and manage logistics operations to support aerospace projects and systems.
- Ensure timely and efficient transportation, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment.
- Develop logistics strategies to optimize resources and reduce costs.
- Ensure all GSE and logistics operations comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
- Ensure all transportation equipment complies with relevant DOT and DOD standards and regulations.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to other employees within logistic Engineers within SE&I.
- Lead large cross-functional teams or technical support staff to implement performance of assigned projects leading to Milestone reviews.
- Communicate results in oral presentations and written communications.
- Represent the organization in meetings/teleconferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience. Active US Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field is desired.
- Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field is a plus.
- US Top Secret Clearance is preferred.
- Experience with material handling and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Experience with military standards for material handling hardware.
- Experience in systems safety, reliability, or affordability engineering is a plus.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
