Senior Space System Engineer
Join us in our fast-paced support to develop, advance, and sustain weapon systems for the U.S. Space Force (USSF) and its mission partners. You will be joining a team of personnel with experience and an in-depth understanding of the environments that include ground, near-space, space, and any system that operates in those environments to meet current and projected strategic, operational, and tactical needs for the Department of Defense (DoD). We are seeking a Senior Space System Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
The Senior Space System Engineer is responsible for providing expert insight, knowledge, and perspectives on design and architecture analysis and management of modeling and simulation activities. This will include requirements development, configuration control, and government Deficiency Review (DR) board establishment, execution, and DR disposition and management as well as developing and managing technical requirements and space system acquisition efforts. The ideal candidate will be highly knowledgeable in classified space control space, ground, and command and control (C2) systems including concepts, development, building, and testing; electronic attack technologies and system design implementation; and highly knowledgeable in electromagnetic spectrum, signal processing, and communications including how to design and perform architecture analysis and management of modeling and simulation activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide space system engineering and technical advice for projects and programs as well as support program acquisition efforts for advanced technology, future concept development, and integration activities.
- Support the revision or drafting of JCIDS and acquisition documentation such as Initial Capability Documents, Analysis of Alternatives, Concept of Operations, Technical/Systems Requirement Documents, Technical Evaluations, and System Specifications.
- Provide inputs and support on technical and/or programmatic status reporting of individual projects, programs, or portfolios.
- Identify areas of improvement with actionable, feasible recommendations, and tasks for reducing risk where appropriate as well as support risk identification, process definition, and detailed technical risk mitigation plans.
- Maintain awareness of current program schedule, monitor acquisition implementation, report requirement shortfalls, and provide program assessments based on the identified risks.
- Advise the Government program manager on technical engagements such as technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program conferences, and other informational meetings.
- Maintain a broad awareness and understanding of all programs and technology development efforts in execution across the applicable portfolio as well as assist integrated product teams and working groups.
- Provide technical and operational insight to support mission protection, operations, and mission data assessments as well as recommend viable solutions for technical anomalies.
- Provide modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) and architecture development support, including definition and development of Space Protection and Space Control mission area architectures and alternatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Expert in classified space control space segment systems (concepts, development, build, and test) as well as space system signature measurements, predictions, and sensor development.
- Expert in space system development and operations and maturing space system technologies through all TRL levels.
- Experienced with developing and managing technical requirements and space system acquisition efforts.
- Highly knowledgeable in classified space control systems engineering processes and procedures, including but not limited to, requirements development, configuration control, and government DR board establishment, execution, and DR disposition and management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Masters Degree
- 20+ years of relevant experience
