Do you have a passion for space? While others may be putting people in space, we are putting people on the Moon and Mars and beyond. As part of your time with ASED, you will support the S5 Solar Sail project in the design and test of wireless Reflective Control Devices (RCDs) on the Amentum ESSCA contract. You will be working with digital hardware and logic designers to support two printed circuit board designs – a node board at each corner of the sail, and a central hub board that interfaces to the spacecraft bus. The hub board will interface with the spacecraft bus and send/receive wireless commands to the node boards using a LoRa radio. The node boards will switch RCDs on/off, which provide steering to the spacecraft. The control logic for both the hub and node boards are provided by an FPGA.
