Safety Business Unit Engineer

This position is part of our Safety Business Unit, which aims to enable safer, greener and more inclusive industries and transportation systems.

Task description:

  • Define, develop and integrate complex control functions for fuel cell application fulfilling safety, airworthiness and performance requirements
  • Create controls specification and design models in Matlab/Simulink as well as generate controls software from design models
  • Integrate controls software on test benches and controllers
  • Upgrade the control software according to the findings and improvements identified during the test campaigns
  • Interface with international and integrated project teams
  • Preparation of documentation and presentation of work results

Required qualifications:

The job requires knowledge and skills that are usually acquired through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable courses of study and related subject-specific additional qualifications or completed vocational training with a corresponding particularly extensive subject-specific additional qualification. The total required knowledge and experience may have been acquired in other ways.

Skills and competences:

  • Knowledge and experience in the above-mentioned areas of responsibility
  • Advanced modeling and simulation knowledge, preferably in Matlab/Simulink
  • Experiences in control theory, like control, monitoring, fault detection, combined with basic knowledge in fuel cell
  • Knowledge and experience in control hardware and/or embedded software development
  • Highly motivated, customer-oriented and open-minded person with a great sense of initiative and the ability to adapt to changes and to manage confidential topics
  • Very good written and spoken German and English
  • Willingness for business trips domestically and abroad

Location:

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry.
