Volunteer For International Experience (VIE)

The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) is a unique international program sponsored by the French Ministries of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria.

VIE Main Requirements:

  • European Union citizens (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Monaco), graduates up to and including 28 years old (a V.I.E mission can begin no later than the day of the twenty-ninth birthday)
  • Have fulfilled military obligations for their country, if any
  • Must be registered on the Mon Volontariat International website before the age of 28

The contract duration of VIE is between 6 to 24 months.

A VIE for a Digital Transformation & Operations Excellence Specialist has arisen within Airbus Lifecycle Services (ALS) in Chengdu, China. You will join the Transformation Team.

Support the build-up of Airbus's first global flagship for aircraft life-cycle solutions. You will be the "engine room" of the transformation team, helping to bridge European standards with local operational execution in a dynamic MRO start-up environment.

Tasks & accountabilities

Your main tasks will include:

  • Coordinating the flow of technical information between local operations and supporting functions to ensure team alignment.
  • Supporting the Transformation Office by organizing progress reviews, tracking action plans, and ensuring meeting outcomes are clearly communicated.
  • Acting as a Lean Catalyst by facilitating Airbus Operating System (AOS) routines and driving the maturity of AOS bricks on the shop floor.
  • Engaging with business operations as an AMOS ERP 'Key User', translating operational pain points into technical requirements and providing in-situ troubleshooting.
  • Leveraging AI tools and Low-Code platforms (Skywise) to automate reporting and build digital solutions to streamline the maintenance and recycling value chain.

This role will involve occasional travel for business in China and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

You have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering (Aerospace, Industrial, or Systems) or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Data Analysis, Digital Transformation or Engineering (apprenticeships and internships included).
  • Experience in data analysis or Skywise is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Low-Code platforms and AI tools.

In addition you are capable to demonstrate the following skills:

  • High emotional intelligence to collaborate effectively between European standards and Chinese operational realities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, "start-up" industrial environment.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and proactive mindset.
  • Language Skills: Negotiation level of English. Beginner level of Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
