Airbus Protect Cabin & Cargo In-Service Engineering Engineer

With safety and customer satisfaction at the heart of our mission, in-service engineering offers a wide variety of responsibilities, ranging from responding to technical A/L questions to presentations before clients or suppliers, from on-site troubleshooting assistance to influencing new design. At all times, we are the voice of our customers within the Airbus organization.

A thrilling opportunity has opened up for an Electronic Equipment Cabin & Cargo Engineer (m/f) within the in-service engineering team in Blagnac.

You will join a dynamic team of engineers, providing technical assistance on Cabin and Cargo systems topics for the entire fleet of Airbus commercial aircraft in service, from the first wide-body aircraft to the latest A350, A330neo, and A321XLR!

The in-service engineering team Cabin & Cargo has many responsibilities, but the two main ones are to provide rapid responses to daily requests from Airbus operators worldwide and to monitor key events occurring in service and analyze customer feedback to identify and define necessary improvements and corrective actions for the fleet. For these two activities, a close relationship with Airbus operators must be established, as well as collaboration with other customer service departments of Airbus, Airbus design offices, and suppliers. As a member of our team, you will also be able to represent Airbus at conventions, technical forums, or important client meetings, such as the Airline Symposium, technical forums, or supplier conferences.

Technical Perimeter:

  • Cabin Electronics:

    • Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS)

    • Lights: emergency, cabin, and cargo lights

    • Smoke detection

    • Cabin video surveillance

  • Emergency/Mechanical:

    • Cockpit door

    • Seats: passengers, cabin crew, cockpit

    • Slides

    • Door surveillance

    • Emergency equipment: life vest, ELT, gloves, etc.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

As an in-service engineer, you must:

  • Respond to daily client requests via the Tech Request tool. Ensure follow-up if necessary through direct phone calls and discussions with airlines or their representatives.

  • Report occurrences: You will identify and resolve serviceability problems by analyzing causes and solutions in coordination with engineering and programs.

  • Provide on-site assistance if and when necessary.

  • Monitor and record the performance of systems under your responsibility to ensure that the required maturity level is achieved, identify potential recurring or safety issues, and initiate appropriate corrective actions with the relevant technical role engineering manager (ERTL), program, and design organization by creating Major In-Service Problem (MISP) or Request For Work (RFW), and participate in these processes if necessary.

  • Leverage your experiences and act as the customer's voice in new product developments (A350F, XLR, etc.) and system modifications, ensuring that our deliverables are customer-focused.

  • To exploit service experience, you will be empowered to propose and develop innovative engineering projects and services such as on-site assistance, engineering workshops.

  • Propose, write, and revise predefined solutions (PDS).

  • Provide In-Service Information (ISI) and Technical Follow Up (TFU) to airlines, ensuring a high level of quality and value-added information.

  • Participate in meetings, webinars, and regional conferences on specific topics to communicate effectively with airlines.

  • Participate in technical Cabin and Cargo subject matter expert meetings with internal and external stakeholders on topics assigned to you.

  • Participate in the expert forum (as needed).

  • Provide a workshop to airlines upon request from the Airbus in-service service catalog (as needed).

  • Review documentation of new programs and modifications/adaptations of programs in service (AMM and TSM).

  • Perform SB/VSB scrutinies.

  • Contribute to the change request process.

  • Become a key technical reference for your assigned primary (one or two) perimeters.

  • Involvement in secondary perimeters.

  • Team spirit, adaptable, flexible

  • Independent - able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Engineer with experience in systems or aircraft structure, with a preference for cabin and cargo systems.

  • Level of negotiation in English, written and spoken, as our activities involve communicating and presenting to clients or design offices in English (written and verbal communications).

  • Excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written.

  • Very concerned about customer support and customer service-oriented.

  • Good coordination and relationship skills to deal with clients, design offices, suppliers, and other Airbus departments.

  • Relational skills for coordinating activities outside of purely technical subjects.
