Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for an Experienced Flight Dynamics Simulation Engineer to join our Flight Dynamics & Performance Department based in Toulouse, France.
You will be part of a team developing flight mechanics models and vehicle simulations for all the Airbus fleet.
As part of the Reference Aircraft Model team, you will be involved in the identification - or calibration - of these models based on ground/flight tests, through open & closed-loop (including aircraft systems) simulations.
Through these activities we support the development and certification needs of the Handling Qualities, Flight Control Laws and Performance domains.
We also feed the wider Airbus simulation community with the most representative on-ground & in-flight mechanics models and support the qualification of the training simulators.
Our perimeter encompasses the support to development programs simulation needs throughout the product life cycle, as well as R&T and future projects activities.
We support the analysis of in-service events through our expertise of flight dynamics simulation and motion modelling.
We strive to continuously improve the representativity of our models and thus develop Airbus' capability to dispose of an aircraft digital reference, a key asset to support the development & certification by simulations means.
We also ensure growing our own capabilities through methods & tools development, expertise in aircraft data treatment, and increase of our footprint on out-of-cycle studies.
We work as a closed-knit community, with great mutual support and a high-level of expertise in our field.
Your working environment:
Global capital of aeronautics and European capital for space research, Toulouse is a dynamic city in the southwest of France served by an international airport. Ideally located between the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic ocean and close to the Pyrenees mountains, it offers plenty of options for outdoor activities!
How we care for you:
Financial rewards: Attractive salary, agreements on success and profit sharing schemes, employee savings plan abounded by Airbus and employee stock purchase plan on a voluntary basis.
Work / Life Balance: Extra days-off for special occasions, holiday transfer option, a Staff council offering many social, cultural and sport activities and other services.
Wellbeing / Health: Complementary health insurance coverage (disability, invalidity, death). Depending on the site: health services center, concierge services, gym, carpooling application.
Individual development: Great upskilling opportunities and development prospects with unlimited access to +10.000 e-learning courses to develop your employability, certifications, expert career path, accelerated development programmes, national and international mobility.
At Airbus, we support you to work, connect and collaborate more easily and flexibly. Wherever possible, we foster flexible working arrangements to stimulate innovative thinking.
Your challenges:
Carry-out the identification of our simulation models to feed either Programs or R&T activities and Training simulators needs
Follow actively the flight test campaigns from test requests definition, pre-flight simulations, up to flight test support and data treatment
Present your results to key stakeholders and customers community focusing on their needs
Ensure an active and efficient liaison with our different interfaces: Aerodynamics, aircraft loads, aircraft performance, handling qualities, control laws, and flight tests departments
Act as technical lead for specific projects or tasks, in support of workpackage leaders
Contribute to support requests, being for specific developments (handling qualities analysis, control laws tuning, aircraft performance assessment) or in-service events, by running flight scenarios and assessing the representativity of our simulation models in specific flight conditions
Work with our internal modelling team and end customers to identify possible modelling improvement axes to better the representativity of our models and contribute to the safe operation and performance of our fleet.
Contribute to capture and improvement of our knowledge database, and quickly to training of our new arrivals
Your boarding pass:
Degree in aeronautical engineering / mechanical engineering (or equivalent), Good knowledge of aircraft flight physics and flight mechanics, 7+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, Solid experience in mechanical models mutli-axes identification, Experience in aircraft motion simulation, of handling qualities criteria, as well as control laws, Experience in dealing with flight tests data (maneuvres / instrumentation) is a plus, Aircraft Systems knowledge would be a plus, Competences in IT (scripting, coding, data science), You are open minded with high focus on team spirit and collaboration, Pro-activity, adaptability and dynamism are key for this position as well as good communication skills. Advanced level in English is required, and in French is highly recommended.
