Flight Control & Autopilot Systems Testing Engineer

A position of Flight Control & Autopilot Systems Testing Engineer has just opened within Airbus Commercial Aircraft in Toulouse. You will join a team within the Flight and Integration Tests center, in charge of Flight Control (ATA 27) and Autopilot (ATA 22) system integration testing for all programs.

The majority of our testing activities are performed on laboratory test benches, aircraft integration simulators and flight test aircraft. The jobholder will also contribute to shaping the future of testing through more innovative ways of working and more digitalization, with the objective of increasing the maturity of our products, focusing on high-added-value activities while keeping safety first. Collaboration with our main stakeholders in the Design Office, Programmes and Flight Tests fosters a rich and dynamic environment in which to develop.

Your main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Analyzing, challenging, and harmonizing test orders/requests in accordance with the overall test strategy.
  • Defining and writing the test procedures and test cases to validate the system design (flight control laws, software, ...).
  • Learning airline operational procedures in order to build fully representative test scenarios.
  • Performing the tests on specific benches and simulators, and analyzing the results (writing test reports, data analysis, ...).
  • Supporting flight tests through real-time analysis from the telemetry room.
  • Participating in working groups with the Design Office, Flight Test Engineers, and Programmes to share results and contribute to delivering A/C main milestones.
  • Reporting and classifying identified issues in associated reporting tools.
  • Enhancing innovation and continuous improvement (big data analytics, automation, etc.).

We are looking for a proactive and result-oriented engineer, ideally with a degree in Aeronautics or a related field, with a first experience in system testing or development. The candidate shall be open-minded, with good communication and synthesis skills, and a strong team spirit.

About your technical skills:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of testing systems.
  • Knowledge of flight mechanics
  • Knowledge of aircraft operation or flying experience could be a plus (eg PPL or ATP)
  • Coding skills in Python / Analytical skills (data science, data analysis...).
  • Any relevant experience in embedded system design or computer science is a plus.

Languages:

  • Advanced level in French and English
