Data Science Engineer

Airbus Commercial is looking for a Data Science Engineer to join our Skywise team in Atlanta, Georgia. The Data Science Engineer will bring talent working in their domain with a track record of working with technical teams and leading projects through successful enterprise-level software and/or big data initiatives.

The Skywise Team powers a purpose-built industry data platform, aimed to address Aircraft Operations Challenges. Our team combines in-flight, engineering and operational data in an analytic rich environment to provide airlines with meaningful information.

The Airbus Digital Alliance is a partnership founded in 2019 with Delta Air Lines to develop predictive maintenance programs and additional performance solutions for mixed fleet operations. Find them in the historic Ponce City Market area.

Your Challenges:

  • Build and improve the model integration pipeline: 50%
  • Perform required engineering tasks in Data Science: 25%
  • Serve team as a key member of our engineering discipline: 15%
  • Participate in technical discussions, documentation needs, research, and innovation and sustainability topics: 10%

Your Boarding Pass:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Preferred)
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • Intermediate coding skills.
  • Knowledge of Python programming language, Regex and SQL syntax is required
  • Experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, Javascript. Experience with Palantir Foundry tools. (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

Onsite: 80%

Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

Equipment Operation: Daily use of personal computer, telephone, copier, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.

Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Lifting: Daily able to lift documents, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Pushing / Pulling: Daily able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer

Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

Travel: Occasionally able to travel independently and at short notice.

Walking: Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
