Sr. Director, Clinical Strategy & Operations
The Sr. Director of Clinical Strategy and Operations is a skilled clinical operator with experience designing, supporting and managing multiple, complex workstreams in a matrixed environment. This person will be integral to developing and implementing clinical programs that improve the value of care for patients. The role will partner with clinical leadership to deliver exceptional care to senior patients on our platform: providing ongoing project management of clinical activities at the platform level, developing and tracking clinical/quality metrics across our portfolio, supporting platform level programs to drive physician performance/activation, interfacing with key stakeholders including market teams, finance, BOI, and Technology. The Sr. Director will work across agilon's partner network and core capabilities to design and implement innovative products and services that generate long-term value, improve patient care, and enable scaling across agilon's markets. By creating new solutions, this position plays a key role in delivering high-quality outcomes and achieving the company's performance objectives. The Sr. Director of Clinical Strategy and Operations reports to the VP of Clinical Strategy and collaborates on clinical and quality initiatives with the platform clinical team as well as market clinical and operational teams.
Essential Job Functions:
- Project management of clinical activities at the platform level, developing and tracking clinical/quality metrics across our portfolio, supporting platform level programs to drive physician performance/activation, interfacing with key stakeholders including market teams, finance, BOI, and Technology.
- Provide operational management support for agilon physician organization (strategy/prioritization, tracking of activities, metrics, deliverables)
- Supports execution, performance, coordination, and efficiency of agilon physician and clinical resources, ensuring that markets and platform benefit from the best of agilon's clinical resources, including integrations and coordination of new markets, BOI, Quality, Clinical Programs, Regional/Market medical leadership etc.
- Work closely with markets and platform team members to successfully execute clinical programs, including identification of opportunities, development, tracking, and reporting
- Supports clinical team in development of platform-wide solutions for foundational components necessary for high-quality and high value care
- Collaborate with analytic and technology teams to co-develop new insights that can transform care and optimize our current clinical initiatives
- Develop communication processes to convey the value of care being delivered to markets and physicians, including strengths and opportunities
- Responsible for process to develop and surveil network for clinical trends, performance, and insights (medical management trends, quality, coordinate response to spikes in utilization, etc.)
- Participate in strategy and long-term planning process
- Support cross-market best-practice identification and sharing
- Oversee creation of material to communicate clinical activities to market clinical leaders (e.g., through agilon Clinical Committees) and platform leadership
- Convey, both internally and externally, the strength of our message and model
Required Qualifications:
- Passionate about value-based care, the importance of its role in our current healthcare system, and the necessity to achieve these goals through partnership
- 8-10 years VBC experience in project management, strategy, and ops
- Proven track record developing and launching clinical programs, particularly around value-based initiatives, including program design, quality measures, efficiency
- Robust experience with, and understanding of, practice management/operations
- Strong operational and process management skills
- Previous clinical and/or operational leadership role in value-based programs.
- Experience developing programs for high risk/high complexity patient population strongly preferred
- Effective communicator to practices and individual physicians
Location:
- Location is flexible, and significant portion of work can be done remotely with video meetings. Occasional travel to market sites as needed (10-30%)
