Sr Operations Leader

AFL manufactures industry-leading fiber optic cable, connectivity and accessories and provides engineering and installation services for some of the largest telecom customers in the world. Our company was founded in 1984 with a single fiber optic cable and today, we manufacture thousands of products and employ approximately 9,000 associates worldwide.

Job Summary

The Sr. Operations Leader is responsible, in conjunction with the PLM, of developing & leading an interdepartmental team to serve a specific account or line of products. He will act as the main communication channel in Monterrey for those persons & departments that are located in SPB.

Technical Knowledge:

1) Experience & understanding of passive fiber optic and / or copper telecommunications products 2) Complete understanding of quality systems 3) Extensive experience in problem solving, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and quality control. 4) Extensive experience on production matters, in special, enough experience in dealing with direct personnel.

Qualifications

Experience: 5 to 7 years' experience in any operational area, such as production, quality, planning or materials. Education: A degree in Engineering.

His efforts must be oriented to:

1) Achieve or exceed customer(s) requirements by using in an efficient manner all the resources that report to him. (People & equipment groups 150-300 people.) 2) Achieve or exceed operational targets, such as scrap, OTD, productivity & quality, without exceeding the expected manufacturing costs. 3) Response in a timely manner of any customer complaint or IAR issued to his area. He must lead a deep investigation for every complaint to detect root causes & avoid recurrence of the problems. 4) Optimize the usage of overtime. 5) Find ways, in conjunction with PLM, to increase margin of the account. 6) Assure that the personnel that reports to him follow the guidelines & procedures requested by IS0 9000, TL 9000 & ISO 14000 systems. 7) Reduce turnover within his team (hourly & non-hourly personnel). 8) Develop a continuous improvement culture within his team. Also, he is responsible for maintaining best practices that give us competitive advantages. 9) Define ramp up plans, when needed, and meet such plans in timely manner.
