Warehouse Worker – 1st Shift

This 1st shift warehouse worker role is a highly physical position focused on accurately processing orders and handling boxed materials in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. You will use hand trucks, pallet jacks, handheld scanners, and a proprietary computer system to locate, move, and track boxes of files, books, binders, backup tapes, and other materials while consistently meeting productivity and accuracy standards.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing orders accurately and efficiently throughout the shift.
  • Scan boxes correctly using a handheld scanner to ensure precise tracking of inventory.
  • Perform accurate order pulling while consistently meeting established productivity metrics.
  • Read labels and verify box information to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, and move boxes weighing 10–50 lbs without assistance on a regular basis.
  • Load and safely operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment on uneven and concrete surfaces.
  • Load boxes onto pallets and load pallets onto trucks manually and with material handling aids.
  • Load and shrink wrap pallets at ground level or on carts to prepare shipments for transport.
  • Walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and bend for extended periods of time during the shift.
  • Work on and balance on ladders as needed to access and retrieve boxes.
  • Use the proprietary computer system to track orders and determine the location of boxes within the warehouse.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient warehouse operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines related to lifting, material handling equipment, and warehouse operations.
  • Work Monday through Friday with a 7:30 a.m. start time, while remaining flexible for an 8:00 a.m. start when required.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to perform heavy manual labor, including constant lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of boxes weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Capability to walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and bend forward frequently and for extended periods during the workday.
  • Experience with general labor and warehouse tasks such as order pulling, loading, unloading, and order picking.
  • Ability to safely operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling aids on concrete and uneven surfaces.
  • Competence using handheld RF scanners to scan boxes and process orders accurately.
  • Ability to use a computer-based, proprietary inventory or order tracking system to locate and manage boxes.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate scanning, labeling, and order fulfillment.
  • Reliability and punctuality to work Monday through Friday with a 7:30 a.m. start time and flexibility to start at 8:00 a.m. when needed.
  • Steel-toed boots, required for safety on the warehouse floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution, or general labor environment.
  • Familiarity with order picking processes and meeting productivity targets.
  • Comfort working at heights and maintaining balance while using ladders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.

Work Environment

The role is based in a busy warehouse that is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures vary with the seasons. Work is performed primarily on concrete and uneven surfaces and involves frequent movement throughout the facility, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders. The position is full-time on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with a typical start time of 7:30 a.m. and flexibility for an 8:00 a.m. start when required. You will regularly use hand trucks, pallet jacks, hand carts, shrink wrap, handheld RF scanners, and a proprietary computer system to complete daily tasks. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the safety-focused dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
