Service Technician
The Service Technician performs a wide range of building inspection, repair, and installation tasks, including carpentry, flooring, painting, and basic electrical and plumbing work. This role involves working from floor plans and written directions to complete remodeling, construction, and maintenance projects using hand and power tools throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
- Inspect buildings and facilities to identify needed repairs, maintenance, and potential safety issues.
- Perform general carpentry work, including framing, repairs, and installation of structural and finish components.
- Assist with remodeling and construction projects, ensuring work meets quality and safety standards.
- Install, repair, and maintain flooring surfaces as directed by project requirements.
- Complete interior and exterior painting tasks, including preparation, priming, and finishing.
- Support building repairs across multiple trades, such as minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks within scope of experience.
- Read, interpret, and follow floor plans, drawings, and written directions for each specific customer project.
- Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently throughout the entire shift.
- Collaborate with a team of service technicians to complete projects on time and to customer specifications.
- Follow all site safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment provided by the facility.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment with care.
- Communicate progress, issues, and material needs clearly to supervisors or project leads.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with general remodeling and construction work.
- Proficiency in basic carpentry, including framing and structural repairs.
- Ability to perform mechanical tasks related to building maintenance and repair.
- Experience assisting with flooring installation and repair.
- Ability to perform interior and exterior painting tasks to a professional standard.
- Capability to support building repairs across multiple trades as needed.
- Strong ability to read and follow floor plans, drawings, and written instructions.
- Proficient use of hand and power tools for construction and maintenance tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Commitment to safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge and/or experience in plumbing is considered a strong plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience in HVAC systems is considered a strong plus.
- Knowledge and/or experience in electrical work is considered a strong plus.
- Previous experience working as a service technician, maintenance technician, or in a similar multi-trade role is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team of technicians on shared projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic building issues.

Work Environment

Jeans and steel-toe footwear are required as part of the dress code. The site provides tools and personal protective equipment, supporting safe and efficient work with hand and power tools on construction, remodeling, and repair projects.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
