Service Technician

This role is not a standard Monday to Friday position. The Service Technician will be part of a team of four, required to respond to customer calls, which could be near the shop in Coraopolis or as far as California. The position involves working with proprietary equipment that needs to be assembled, repaired, and serviced.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and disassemble components and accessories on large drilling and foundation piling equipment, including hydraulic systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and more.
• Perform machining and fabrication of steel components using mechanics hand tools and power-driven tools.
• Conduct thorough diagnostic testing of mechanical systems to identify issues.
• Write detailed service reports, look up parts, and complete parts order requisitions.
• Operate various equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, power grinders, and more.
• Complete repairs and preventative maintenance on drilling and pile-driving equipment within required timeframes.
• Safely assemble and disassemble drilling equipment for inspections and repairs.
• Complete check-in and check-out sheets for rental equipment and clean and wash equipment.
• Perform minor repairs at jobsite locations and notify the Service Manager of any suspected customer damage.
• Complete quality control service tags when inspecting rental equipment.

Essential Skills

3-5 years of experience working on heavy equipment as a mechanic. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Experience with construction equipment, mechanical electrical systems, and electronics, including CAN-bus wiring. Proficiency in hydraulics, power trains, and diesel engines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Training may be conducted in Texas or Germany. Must have own tools; specialty tools will be provided. Experience with companies like Caterpillar is a plus.

Work Environment

When not traveling, work hours are Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with travel occurring during the week and weekends at home. Technicians can expect to work 40-60 hours per week. The role involves both shop work and travel to customer sites, requiring the ability to work in tight spaces and operate heavy construction equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coraopolis, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
