Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves assembling, repairing, and modifying utility trucks and equipment, ensuring they meet high-performance standards. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, with opportunities for field service work after gaining experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical components on truck-mounted equipment.
  • Fit, weld, bolt, and secure parts using hand and power tools to create fully functional utility vehicles.
  • Follow blueprints and layout diagrams to assemble complex systems.
  • Tear down and rebuild hydraulic components and recondition assemblies to factory standards.
  • Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical failures and restore equipment functionality.
  • Wire control panels and troubleshoot electrical faults using multimeters and schematics.
  • Ensure all connections meet safety and performance standards.
  • Cut, grind, and weld metal to modify truck frames and customize builds based on specifications.
  • Operate shop equipment like plasma cutters and hydraulic presses.
  • Perform field service on bucket and utility trucks, which may require travel from Monday to Friday.

Essential Skills:

  • 1-2+ years of recent mechanic, automotive tech, or diesel tech experience.
  • Experience with mechanics, electrical, hydraulics, and automotive repair.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and using hand and power tools.
  • Strong cognitive thinking, mechanical troubleshooting, and repair skills.
  • Ability to wire and install systems effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Own a 200-300 piece set of tools including sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, and torque tools.
  • Proper toolbox/cart for organization.
  • Experience with wiring and 12v electrical service tools.
  • Preferred: Large wrenches, prybar set, hammer set, and work lights.
  • Physical capability to lift 40 pounds and perform physical tasks like climbing and crawling.
  • Team player with a proactive, self-starting attitude.

Work Environment:

Work in a medium-sized manufacturing and service shop with three distinct service areas for welding/fabricating, chassis building, and vehicle servicing. The shop includes a full paint booth and provides a collaborative, although sometimes cramped, environment where everyone works closely together. Candidates should be adaptable to this fast-paced and physical work setting.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Hopkins, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $70720.00/yr. Ichra insurance with a 65% premium. Dental, vision, $10k in life insurance. PTO: 80 hours year 1, 120 hours years 2+. (They are not strict about PTO. If someone needs to step away they will not give anyone a hard time.)
