HVAC Service/Installation Technician

The HVAC Service Technician diagnoses, services, repairs, and maintains large-scale HVAC systems in commercial and industrial buildings. The role focuses on complex mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting to ensure building comfort, energy efficiency, and safe operation. The technician performs both service and installation tasks in the field, supporting a variety of commercial sites.

7am to 3:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain large-scale HVAC systems in commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on complex mechanical and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and system issues to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Install, replace, and commission HVAC components and equipment as required at customer sites.
  • Provide field service support at multiple commercial locations, including critical facilities such as UPS sites.
  • Document service activities, repairs, and maintenance performed in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety standards, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Operate and maintain a work van and tools in a professional, organized, and safe manner while traveling between job sites.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as an HVAC Service Technician working on large-scale commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
  • Strong HVAC service and troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing complex mechanical and system issues.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC installation, including setting up and connecting equipment and components.
  • EPA Certification (EPA Certified Service Technician) to handle and work with refrigerants safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Ability to perform field service work independently at customer locations.
  • Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices for commercial HVAC systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience servicing HVAC systems in commercial and industrial facilities, including critical environments.
  • Comfort working in a field-based role that requires travel between multiple customer sites.
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with building personnel and site contacts.
  • Ability to maintain accurate service records and follow company procedures and documentation standards.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role primarily operating out of Brea, CA, with regular travel to service UPS facilities and other commercial sites. Work is performed on-site at customer locations, often in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and throughout commercial and industrial buildings. The technician uses a company-provided work van to travel between locations and carries tools and equipment necessary for HVAC service and installation. The environment involves working around mechanical and electrical equipment, following strict safety practices, and adapting to different facility conditions and site requirements.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
