Service Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electro-Mechanical Machine Builder & Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and servicing industrial machinery within the woodworking and wood processing industry. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of working independently and flexibly in various environments, including traveling to client sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform full machine builds and installations, including sub-assemblies and final assemblies for various types of machinery and automation systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and 3D models to perform assembly.
  • Install and connect electrical components, including running and terminating wires, installing electrical panels, breaker boxes, sensors, motors, PLCs, and control boards.
  • Assemble and install mechanical components, including frames, brackets, gears, shafts, chains, and fasteners.
  • Perform hydraulic and pneumatic assembly and repairs, including hoses, valves, cylinders, pumps, and solenoids.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures related to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Install, replace, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and associated components.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and overhead cranes, safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect, test, and document equipment functionality throughout the build and service process.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while working independently or within a team environment.

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in machine building and service.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to work with voltages up to 480V 3-Phase and troubleshoot AC/DC circuits.
  • Experience installing and servicing PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), sensors, motors, and automation components.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Skilled in reading prints, schematics, and work instructions for assembly and maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex issues on industrial machinery with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable operating secondary equipment, such as press brakes, mills, lathes, and sanding machines.
  • Ability to lift, stoop, crawl, and work at heights as required.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Willing to travel up to 75%.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Industrial electrical experience.
  • Industrial mechanical experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery.

Work Environment:

The position involves working in a heavy manufacturing environment, with 25% shop-based work and 75% travel to client sites. The role requires flexibility, as travel may occur once or several times a month, lasting from a few days to a week. Initially, the contractor will work in a team environment, transitioning to more independent work with customer interaction while on the road. The work hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 am to 5 pm, with potential overtime on Fridays and Saturdays as needed.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of New Holland, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $42.00/hr.
