RME - Control Systems Engineer

The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting fulfillment center operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying material handling control systems equipment. This includes working with PLC components, HMI components, control network components, motor controls such as motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), DC drives, and standard electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and modify software programs for material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus.
  • Perform industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
  • Interpret and modify mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Monitor material handling equipment metrics and partner with maintenance/operations for system performance issues.
  • Act as first-level escalation support for site technicians, troubleshooting locally and remotely.
  • Escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters for support.
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes.
  • Partner with Facility Operations leadership, equipment vendors, and parts suppliers to coordinate new technology installations.
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines with building leadership and operations teams.

Essential Skills

  • Advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or 2+ years of equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with HMI and control network components.
  • Experience with motor controls, including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, and DC drives.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with programming software such as RSLogix5000 studio and FT View.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and KPIs.
  • Systems controls design or programming experience.
  • Field service engineering experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced automation controls systems.
  • Experience with industrial robotics and ASRS systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial industries.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills.
  • History of remote technical support.

This is a Contract position based out of Moreno Valley, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
