Operations Technician

Full-Time | Rotating 12‑Hour Shifts (Days & Nights)

What You'll Do

You'll support the operation and upkeep of mechanical sampling equipment at bulk terminals across the U.S. Your work helps keep systems running smoothly and ensures accurate sampling results.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning interior/exterior components of mechanical sampling systems using compressed air, water, and hand/power tools
  • Clearing material buildup and keeping equipment, walkways, platforms, and work areas clean
  • Observing mechanical sampling systems during operation and downtime to monitor performance
  • Recording sample data: weights, tonnage, loading sequences, equipment settings, and ID tags
  • Applying Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures correctly and safely
  • Entering data accurately using Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic math
  • Working in a rotating 24/7 environment with overtime as needed

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with machine operation, quality testing, or mechanical equipment

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

Shift Schedule (Very Important)

This role requires a rotating 12‑hour schedule after training. Candidates must be fully willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Training Schedule (Approx. 90 Days)

Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Rotating 6‑Week Cycle (After Training)

  • Days – Front Half: Sun–Wed | 7 AM–7 PM
  • Days – Back Half: Wed–Sat | 7 AM–7 PM
  • Nights – Back Half: Wed–Sat | 7 PM–7 AM
  • Nights – Front Half: Sun–Wed | 7 PM–7 AM

This rotation repeats continuously and provides built‑in extended time off.

Work Environment

This is an active, outdoor industrial role. You'll regularly:

  • Work in all weather (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate slopes
  • Be around dust, noise, and industrial equipment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
