Monitor and operate machines to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production. Perform start-up, shutdown, and cycling procedures for the entire production line, including extruder, former, and trim press. Troubleshoot and correct issues on the line to reduce downtime and scrap. Perform and document in-process quality checks, communicate clearly during shift changes, and collaborate with team members to resolve production issues.
Complete line changeovers and ensure all related documentation is filled out correctly.
Follow all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including GMP, HACCP, SQF, ISO, and company policies.
Ensure PPE is obtained and worn properly before shift starts.
Record accurate production data in systems such as Web EFF.
Support operators when issues arise, including assisting with defective parts and rework.
Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth operations and assist others as needed.
Support QA by verifying product specs and documenting rejected data when required.
Follow sanitation procedures, line clearance protocols, and equipment startup/shutdown checklists.
Keep the production area clean and organized, ensuring all chemicals and tools are stored properly.
Report safety concerns or abnormal machine behavior to supervisors immediately.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Assistant Group Leader.
High school diploma or GED required.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and process issues.
Dependable work history with strong attendance and punctuality.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety standards.
Willingness to complete on-the-job training and demonstrate understanding of process responsibilities.
Ability to accurately complete documentation and enter data into production systems.
Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and production needs.
Must be able to stand, walk, or bend for the majority of an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
Must have 20/20 vision (with correction) and the ability to distinguish colors.
Must be able to safely climb stairs and ladders as needed.
Must have good manual dexterity and use of hands for handling tools and materials.
Must be able to work around grease, oils, solvents, and in dusty environments without adverse reactions.
Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms and communicate verbally in a manufacturing environment.

You will work in a climate-controlled environment, though the machines emit considerable heat. Eye protection, ear protection, hair net, smock, and bump cap are required. The 2nd shift runs from 3pm-11:30pm. Dress code includes jeans/shorts, t-shirt, closed-toe shoes, and no jewelry of any kind. Consumption of food, gum, or drinks other than water is not allowed on the production floor. Dresses are not permitted on the floor.
This is a Permanent position based out of Lawrence, KS.
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
