Maintenance Technician – 3rd Shift

The Maintenance Technician on 3rd shift installs, troubleshoots, and repairs production machinery and facility equipment in a GMP environment. This role focuses on both emergency and scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime, while performing mechanical, electrical, and facility-related repairs. The technician reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders, performs preventive maintenance, and ensures safe, efficient operation of all assigned equipment and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair production machines and facility equipment to support continuous operations.
  • Perform emergency maintenance on production equipment to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct scheduled and preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities according to established plans.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs.
  • Perform mechanical duties including machining, welding, and the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and work orders to determine maintenance procedures.
  • Replace parts, make adjustments, and calibrate equipment to maintain optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain and repair facility systems, including plumbing and general carpentry tasks, as needed.
  • Support facilities maintenance activities such as snow removal and other building-related upkeep.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC and related systems to ensure proper operation within the facility.
  • Perform electrical maintenance tasks, including basic PLC troubleshooting as required for equipment support.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance routines on production equipment, utilities, and plant infrastructure.
  • Document all maintenance activities accurately, including repairs, parts used, and time spent, in maintenance logs or systems.
  • Communicate equipment status, ongoing issues, and completed work clearly to supervisors and relevant team members.
  • Coordinate with external technicians or service providers for complex repairs and specialized maintenance tasks.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, GMP standards, and company policies while performing maintenance work.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
  • Support overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to meet production and maintenance requirements.

Essential Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, with a strong focus on production machinery and facility equipment.
  • 4+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience performing preventive and preventive maintenance on production equipment and plant facilities.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Hands-on experience with general maintenance technician duties in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to perform basic electrical maintenance and PLC troubleshooting in support of equipment repairs.
  • Experience with HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance within a facility environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical diagrams, and work orders.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment for machining, welding, and general repairs.
  • Experience with facilities maintenance tasks, including plumbing and general building upkeep.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 pm to 6:30 am, with regular overtime.
  • Commitment to following safety regulations and working effectively in a GMP-regulated environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience performing plumbing repairs and maintenance in an industrial or commercial facility.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance, including building systems and general carpentry tasks.
  • Ability to support snow removal and exterior facility upkeep during applicable seasons.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and documentation practices.
  • Comfort working with external vendors or technicians to coordinate complex repairs.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly report equipment status and maintenance needs.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate maintenance records.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to strict procedures. The position is on 3rd shift, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 pm to 6:30 am, with current expectations of 10-hour workdays during the week and one full 10-hour Saturday per month for overtime. You work around production machinery, facility equipment, and building systems, performing both equipment and facilities maintenance. The role requires appropriate GMP attire, including a hair net, beard net when applicable, and non-slip safety shoes. Safety is a core focus, and you follow established safety protocols while using hand and power tools, performing mechanical and electrical work, and moving throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Janesville, WI.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
