Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift

This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production machinery and facility equipment in a GMP environment. The Maintenance Technician performs both emergency and scheduled maintenance to minimize downtime, supports mechanical, electrical, and facility systems, and ensures all work complies with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair production machines and facility equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Conduct emergency maintenance on production equipment to quickly resolve breakdowns and reduce downtime.
  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities to extend equipment life and improve performance.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance duties, including machining, welding, and the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to plan and execute maintenance tasks accurately.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and basic electrical issues, then replace parts and make adjustments to restore optimal equipment efficiency.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance for facility systems as needed.
  • Support facilities maintenance activities, including tasks such as snow removal to maintain safe access to the facility.
  • Maintain carpentry-related systems and building components as required to keep the facility in good working condition.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and related equipment to support consistent environmental control.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with PLC-related issues to support automated equipment performance.
  • Coordinate with external technicians and service providers for complex repairs or specialized maintenance needs.
  • Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and preventive maintenance tasks, in the appropriate logs or systems.
  • Communicate equipment status, maintenance needs, and completed work clearly to supervisors and relevant team members.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and GMP requirements while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in maintenance shops, production areas, and facility spaces.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, including hands-on work with production machinery and facility equipment.
  • At least 4 years of mechanical maintenance experience, including troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience performing preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with HVAC systems in an industrial or facility setting.
  • Ability to perform mechanical duties such as machining and welding using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Experience with electrical maintenance tasks and basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical documentation, and work orders.
  • Experience in facilities maintenance, including general building systems support.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems and basic plumbing repairs.
  • Ability to perform outdoor facility tasks such as snow removal when needed.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and adherence to GMP and facility regulations.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, technicians, and external service providers.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment status.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a GMP or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience in carpentry-related facility maintenance tasks.
  • Familiarity with coordinating and overseeing external contractors for specialized repairs.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively with a team.

Work Environment

The position operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with standard 10-hour workdays. Overtime is regularly available, including working 10-hour days Monday through Friday and one Saturday per month for a full 10-hour shift. The facility environment is production-oriented, with active machinery and maintenance tools in use, requiring consistent attention to safety, organization, and GMP compliance.

This is a Contract position based out of Beloit, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
